Today, The Leapfrog Group released its new Hospital Safety Grade report, awarding MarinHealth Medical Center an “A” in acknowledgement of its standards for excellence in patient care and its efforts to protect patients and meet the highest hospital safety standards in the U.S.
“This acknowledgment speaks volumes about the care we provide, and even more about the culture of excellence we’ve cultivated at MarinHealth”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade rating system uses stringent criteria to assess hospitals’ safety and quality of care. Its A, B, C, D, or F letter grades offer a quick, simple way for patients to choose the safest hospital to seek care. The grade uses more than 30 measures of safety data, including rates of preventable errors, injuries, and infections, while also accounting for whether hospitals have systems in place to protect patients from harm.
“This exciting news from Leapfrog confirms our commitment to providing world-class care to every patient every day at MarinHealth,” said MarinHealth CEO David Klein, MD. “Our patients are at the heart of everything we do, and patient safety is the foundation on which the care we provide is built.”
“This acknowledgment speaks volumes about the care we provide, and even more about the culture of excellence we’ve cultivated at MarinHealth,” said MarinHealth Medical Director of Quality Susan Cumming, MD. “We are continually raising the bar for patient safety and quality, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible team we have here at MarinHealth.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.
